This week I thought I'd discuss the state of post-New Phyrexia Standard. To everyone's disappointment and (mostly) lack of surprise, CawBlade has remained dominant in the initial stages of the metagame. So how do you cope with the Rock of the format when Paper seems nonexistent? (more)

We'll take a look at how little New Phyrexia has affected the top tables, and how every prediction we made two weeks ago was unfortunately, entirely correct. We'll also take a look at the incoming Event Decks and what you can play on an FNM level that doesn't cost $800. We'll also tell Wizards straight up what needs to be on the ban list tomorrow and why, and what's coming in M12 that won't answer Caw Blade. (more)

In this episode, I am going to share some theoretical thoughts on the current condition of the restricted list in Vintage. In my opinion, there are some cards on the list that don’t belong anymore and I want to share some thoughts about what would happen if some MUD cards were to be added to the list. (more)

This weekend GP Providence is happening, and it is going to be huge. I expect Merfolk to be a strong choice for the event. Its financial accessibility and straightforward game plan make it an attractive Legacy option for a lot of players. But what exactly does a post-NPH Merfolk deck look like, and what is its plan against the field? (more)

I'm going to talk about the 10 players that I’ve played in my Magic career who have impressed me the most. It would be virtually impossible to say that these are the ten best players I’ve played, or that the order of them would be entirely accurate, but I know that after playing each of these matches I was left with a strong impression of how skillful they are. A close friend of mine brought up the subject of quitting Magic entirely. This got me to thinking, is there any circumstance in life that could ever get me to stop playing Magic? I thought about this question for weeks and after playing out all the scenarios in my head and listening carefully to what everyone else had to say, I came to my conclusion. (more)

New Phyrexia gives us several powerful cards that have the potential to shake up Standard and I think that there is one particular card in NPH which changes the way how certain decks have to play their games. Upon its spoiling, the card stirred debates about the end of aggro in Standard but today I’m going to show you how to fight the Batterskull menace. (more)

Pretty early on in the card-collecting careers of most magicians we each encounter the need to organize our growing collections and we realize that having a system of organizing cards is probably going to save us more time than it’s going to cost us.
