Practical Legacy – Time Stands Still
Many of the best spells in Legacy cost two or less, but most of these cards do not generate card advantage. Standstill is one of the few examples in Legacy where low mana cost meets card advantage. Its ability to draw three cards for only two mana makes it perhaps the most efficient card advantage spell in Legacy. I wasn’t playing control for a while since the latest shift in the Standard-Metagame made it impossible to continue with it. Alara Reborn was real bad news for 5cc. I tried to play Cruel Control anyway in a local PTQ for Austin and lost bad. To everything. As expected. But I didn’t drop after loss #3 because I payed to play 7 matches and I honestly don’t care about my DCI-rating. Congratulation to my wife. M10 is the best base set we've seen in a long time. First, the new cards mean that I can actually review it as a set for Legacy, and second, it's an elegantly designed set. Legacy’s Allure – Wrapping Up The SCG $5000 Legacy Open
The Boston StarCityGames.com $5000 Legacy Open was a huge success, with 187 players showing up to battle! I can only hope that SCG will plan another Legacy Open or four in the near future. With GenCon coming up, we've got another big tournament to get excited about this summer and sixteen decklists from the $5k to pore over. Magic's Eternal tournament formats, Legacy and Vintage, include all Magic cards by default. Legacy only has a banned list. Vintage also has a banned list, but it adds a restricted list; a player can play at most one copy of each card on the restricted list in a deck.
