While the handy Gatherer was updated right before the Prerelease events it won't be until this weekend that you can buy fresh, crisp booster packs to fill your heart's desire for new cards. Of course boosters are just one way to get into the latest (and greatest?) set; single cards are one of the biggest drivers of deliciously new creations. Last week I introduced some new uncommon lands that will surely make their way into a lot of my future decks. This week I'd like to talk about an exciting new deck for extended. Dream Salvage is a card I've wanted to play with for a long time. Unfortunately, I never really had a chance to build a deck with it because of format constraints. Luckily for me, I've just had a "Eureka!" moment, and I now have a reason to be excited about my favorite card that has never seen any competitive play. (more)

Everyone knows about plainswalk, swampwalk, forestwalk, mountainwalk, and islandwalk. But what about the other forms of the ability? You know, the ones that no one talks about these days? If you were to take all of the creatures in the game with a __walk ability that wasn't keyed to one of the basic land types, this is the deck you'd wind up with. As for what your opponent shouldn't have when they play you, how about Deserts, nonbasic lands, snow lands, legendary lands, or blue jeans? Yes, blue jeans. (more)

What do you do when you see a pack with no clear first pick in it? I'm sure that happens with some frequency when you're drafting normal packs, but it was the first time it had happened to me in Cube. Other packs came my way with multiple cards that screamed, "Oooh, I'm a first pick!" I would have been happy to see any of them in my first pack.
